Originally released in 1989, the 550 trades in its normal leather construction for a chrome blue patent leather upper over supple sea salt leather with navy hits on the piping, heel tab and puffy N logo on the side. White hits the laces, lining, tongue and heel clip. The large tongue tag displays an old school New Balance Basketball logo, while a debossed 550 on the front quarter and white NB on the heel take care of the branding. A white midsole with a tnavy rubber outsole completes the design.
