NYLON SOUVENIR JACKET - GREY
This size is currently sold out
At the end of WWII, a fashion trend emerged among soldiers returning to the U.S. from the Pacific Theater. Looking for a memento of their time abroad to bring home, many servicemen took their government issued jackets to local craftsmen to be embroidered with popular local designs featuring dragons, tigers, eagles and even maps of the areas they served in. These "souvenir" jackets continued to be popular with soldiers stationed throughout Asia in the years since.
Schott NYC honors this military tradition with their new "Souvenir Jacket" collection. Inspired by 1950s baseball jackets, the flight satin nylon outer shell boasts two-tone sleeve stripes that match the besom pocket trims and contrast stripes on the ribbed cuffs, collar and waistband. The chest and back is decorated with an embroidered dragon motif that is inspired by actual vintage jackets in the Schott archives that were worn by paratroopers from the 13th Airborne. A poly filled orange satin lining provides extra warmth, and two welt pockets on the front finish off this heritage classic.
