Every March 26th since 2014 is Air Max Day, when Nike blesses the sneaker community with special releases in celebration of the 3/26/1987 release of the shoe that started it all, the Air Max 1. This year Nike has gone back to the model's roots by bringing back the actual shoe that dropped on that date: the Air Max 1 '86 OG "Big Bubble." After discovering the exposed air bubble burst in colder temperatures, Nike redesigned the window to size we know now and and halted production on the original bigger window. Using CT scans (yes, really) to dissect 1 of maybe only 400,000 released pairs of the "Big Bubble," Nike replicated the Nike Air unit and window used in the '86 original, without any possibility of temperature-related bursting, so you can step on the bedrock of sneaker history. This year's Air Max Day release features the original '86 shape and iconic red, white and grey color blocking but on updated premium suede and mesh, this version of the OG Air Max 1 is truly bigger AND better than ever!
