Inspired by life on Mars and the lack of materials and supply lines there, the Space Hippie 01 utilizes "space junk" consisting of Space Waste yarn made from 85-90% recycled content and recycled scraps of ZoomX and Crater foam. Every detail of the shoes - from materials to construction to packaging - was chosen specifically with its environmental impact in mind. This "Obsidian" version builds its knit upper from dark navy Space Waste yarn composed from 90% recycled polyester with blue and white swoosh embroidery on the side, green and orange lace details and tongue branding, and green heel tabs with white branding. The shoe's base is where the sustainable construction really shines through, as the Nike Grind blend of recycled foams leaves multi-color fragments visible throughout the thick white sole unit.
