Asics brings back a mid 2000s distance runner that's been updated for the daily grind on the UB3-S GEL-Nimbus 9. The UB3-S GEL-Nimbus 9 was created by the Kiko Kostadinov Studio. Inspired by the concept of outdoor exploration, the team repurposed the heritage trainer with influences found in nature. Elements from scenic landscapes and encounters with the sea are translated onto the upper’s color palettes. Meanwhile, utility features like the elongated tongue loops add to the shoe’s rugged aesthetic and layered mesh and synthetic leather upper. In this era of performance footwear, Asics shifted towards a more segmented midsole design, though the GEL technology inserts remain in the heel and forefoot to create better cushioning and more stable step. This includes at least 30% recycled materials in its construction.
