Nike draws inspiration from two major events that took place in 1984, the debut of their Escape runner and the eruption of Mount St. Helens, for the Air Max 1 PRM "Escape". The original Air silhouette pairs mesh, leather, nubuck and hairy suede in striking white, blue, grey and red colors pulled from an iconic Nike running ad that featured Mount St. Helens' caldera billowing in the background. An embroidered forest scene at the heel nods to the Pacific Northwest locale of both Nike headquarters and Mt. St. Helens. Bi-color laces, branding on the tongue, heel and insole, a white midsole and blue and grey outsole complete the design.
