ALUMNI VINTAGE, an ongoing art project based in Philadelphia focused on upcycle design and found vintage goods, is back with their second collection of 1-of-1 vintage recreations exclusively available at Lapstone & Hammer. Following up on the success of their first release in 2020, this year's drop includes another range of custom-made hybrid hoodies while adding a new line of patchwork denim, bringing once-forgotten pieces of clothing back to life.
Founded by Lapstone team members Andrew, Alex and James as a personal collection of vintage goods and upcycled garments, ALUMNI VINTAGE quickly grew into a brand with a simple mission: recycle and recirculate. The second release from the brand reinforces their core values: sustainability and up-cycling as an alternative to fast-fashion.
For this release, ALUMNI have up-cycled 35 collegiate crewneck sweatshirts and 9 pairs of vintage denim. Combining their roots in collegiate wear with contemporary Japanese and streetwear styles, ALUMNI took vintage collegiate crew necks and applied a contrasting hood and pocket, creating a “hybrid” style hoodie that stands apart from those found in traditional Americana wear. The patchwork denim is made from vintage pairs of Levi's, Lee and Wrangler jeans adorned with up-cycled patches in an array of different colors, patterns and materials.
All of these items are 1-of-1, with unique colors, graphics and materials. As they are also all sourced from used vintage garments, they will show signs of wear and may have small imperfections.

ALUMNI aims to emphasize the quality and craftsmanship of late production methods and standards from a time before fast fashion by elevating these vintage basics into one-of-one art pieces. Focusing on sustainability, the goal is to reduce waste by recycling found vintage goods and transforming them into contemporary fashions. Instead of buying new, find beauty in something old. Instead of throwing away, repair something damaged. However, this mission is larger than ALUMNI alone: we urge our followers to carry-on the consideration for sustainability in their closet and life beyond - making the conscious decision to shop less, recycle more, and wear longer. Creating and sustaining is what ALUMNI is all about, and we hope to inspire you to do the same.
