The final installment of our Black History Month Spotlight Series focuses on a remarkable individual who is making a profound impact on their community: Pastor Carl Day of the Culture Changing Christians Worship Center in North Philadelphia.
Pastor Carl wears many hats. He is a devoted husband, father, spiritual advisor, servant of Christ and the guiding force behind the Culture Changing Christians Worship Center. As the President and Founder of the outreach non-profit organization Culture Changing Christians Inc, he has made it his mission to transform the culture of Philadelphia and other at-risk cities. His goal is to help young people across the country avoid the same mistakes he made as a youth, and break free from the negative influences that surround them.
Pastor Carl's journey has been one of triumph over adversity. He has faced numerous challenges, growing up without his biological father, becoming a teen parent, and even experiencing a period of incarceration. But these experiences have only fueled his determination to reach out, connect, and relate to anyone in need. By talking about the obstacles he has overcome throughout his life, then he can hopefully serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration to empower others.
What sets Pastor Carl apart is not just his title as a pastor, but his deep involvement in the community. He is a hands-on leader, getting involved in the heart of Philadelphia and making a tangible difference. Through his work on the Philadelphia Mayor's Reconciliation Steering Committee, he leads and facilitates a "Participatory Defense Hub" that supports individuals fighting for their freedom against the justice system. Additionally, he sits on the Board of the "Victims/Co-Victims Subcommittee" for the "Philadelphia Gun Violence Prevention Task Force," actively combating gun violence in the city.
Through his faith in Christ, Pastor Carl has found the strength to overcome obstacles and create change. His leadership extends beyond the church walls, as he dedicates himself to serving those less fortunate. In his role at Culture Changing Christians, he leads initiatives to feed the homeless, mentor at-risk youth, and provide essential resources. But his impact doesn't stop there. Pastor Carl shares his message of hope and empowerment by preaching at various churches, speaking at conferences, and engaging with students in high schools and colleges.
We are inspired by Pastor Carl Day's commitment to his community and his unwavering dedication to bringing about positive change. His journey reminds us that no matter the obstacles we face, we have the power to rise above and make a difference in the lives of others. Together, we have the power to make a lasting impact and create a brighter future for North Philadelphia and beyond.
