Puma continues their partnership with one of England’s oldest tanneries, Charles F. Stead, for another high-end seasonal collection of the iconic PUMA Suede. For over 130 years, Charles F. Stead Tannery has been constructing premium suede products with the finest craftsmanship in all of Great Britain. In honor of their history of excellence, we wanted to showcase these beautiful shoes in two of Philadelphia's historic sites near our shop: Chinatown and The Reading Terminal Market.
In this special Charles F. Stead premium quality execution, the PUMA Suede gets a deluxe treatment with a full CFS suede upper, suede Formstripe, and custom CFS suede lace tag in rich autumnal hues of brown and black. Signature waffle rubber cupsole, woven tongue tag, and gold foil branding on the vamp and heel tab finish off the look.
Like the Charles F. Stead Tannery, Philadelphia's Chinatown and Reading Terminal Market were both also founded in the 1800s (1870 and 1893 respectively). Chinatown was founded by displaced Chinese workers coming east upon completion of the transcontinental railroad, and served as a refuge for all Chinese immigrants to the city. Over the years it has grown to support a myriad of business run not only by people of Chinese descent, but also from other East and Southeast Asian countries like South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan.
The Reading Terminal Market is home to over 100 merchants offering everything from fresh produce, fish and meat to flowers, clothes and books along with a host of specialty and ethnic food stands. While it is no longer part of an actual train station, the market still occupies the same location where it opened below the elevated train shed of the Reading Railroad.
