JSP mastermind Jimmy Gorecki salutes another Philly original on his latest collab, with a capsule celebrating Philadelphia's preeminent bread maker on the JSP x Amoroso's x Extra Market collection. Arriving on Friday, July 29th, the collection features hoodies, sweatpants and tees in both black and cream featuring co-branded graphics using Amoroso's signature "Breadman" character that's instantly recognizable to any resident of the Delaware Valley.
In the pantheon of Philadelphia food brands, Amoroso's ranks near the top. Founded across the river in Camden in 1904, the family-run bakery moved to West Philly in 1914 and has been a Philadelphia institution ever since. Now over 100 years later Amoroso's is an international brand with over 400 employees, but still locally based and still producing that same fresh and delicious bread that made them famous.
Jimmy describes this project as only he can:
"Make it in the back. Sell it in the front. Like a Bakery. Its all in the ingredients and process. That is the shared recipe for the JSP X Amoroso Bakery X Extra Market clothing collection. Utilizing JSP's made in California high quality woven textiles, the capsule showcases Amoroso's amazing sandwich roll characters that date back to 1904. The graphic story is curated in its entirety by Los Angeles clothing designer and plant based culinary expertise Jamie Story, and his Fairfax-based restaurant, Extra Market. Most importantly, Jamie has also crafted a vegan cheesesteak using a plant-based rib eye, that will be served whiz wit on an Amoroso Roll."
The capsule will include 100% cotton French Terry hoodie and sweatpants in both cream an black that feature co-branded embroidery on the front, and custom Amoroso's graphic printed on the back. Also included are two different styles of 100% cotton tees: cream and black that feature the same co-branded logo on the front and Amoroso's graphic on the back, and white and black tees that feature co-branded flag logo on the front and the same custom Amoroso's logo on the back. Finally a special woodgrain skateboard deck emblazoned with an Amoroso's roll graphic and co-branded logo finishes off the collection.
Hoodie (S-2XL) - $130
Sweatpant (S-2XL) - $120
Tees (S-2XL) - $40
Skateboard Deck - $65
For this collab Jimmy is also partnering with Jamie Story, the renowned graphic designer and proprietor of Extra Market Inc., a restaurant specializing in plant-based cuisine located in the Fairfax neighborhood of Los Angeles. In addition to curating the graphics that appear on the 100% cotton Standard Issue Tees hoodies, sweatpants and tees, Extra Market's menu will also be featuring a vegan cheesesteak made from plant-based rib eye and served "wiz wit" on an Amoroso's roll. Extra Market will be the sole brick & mortar location to carry the collection in L.A, while Lapstone has the in-store exclusive in Philly. The project will also be available online at Standard Issue Tees.
JSP x Amoroso's x Extra Market will be available on Friday, July 29th at 10:00am EST in-store only at Lapstone & Hammer, and online @ standardissuetees.com at 10:00am PST.
