Lapstone & Hammer is celebrating 10 years in business with the release of the LAPSTONE For ASICS GEL-1130 “10 YEAR” - an exclusive colorway that drops Saturday, September 20th, at 10:00am, and will only be available at Lapstone via the brand’s 1106 Chestnut St. location in Philadelphia, and online at lapstoneandhammer.com. Releasing alongside the shoe will be an apparel capsule featuring custom “10 YEAR” kits and hats produced by fellow Philly brands Icarus Football and Mitchell & Ness. A 10th Anniversary party will take place at the shop on Friday night, September 19th, with drinks, DJs and early access to the “10 YEAR” shoe and apparel collection.
To kick off our Ten Year anniversary celebration, we’re thrilled to present the LAPSTONE for ASICS GEL-1130 “10 YEAR”. For this Lapstone exclusive release we are honored to be partnering with ASICS, a brand that has been absolutely instrumental to our success over the past decade. We opened our doors during the heyday of the GEL LYTE series, and now we are at the forefront of the current ASICS Sportstyle revolution. Everyone in Philly knows when you want ASICS, you gotta go to Lapstone.
“The GEL-1130 is an extremely important silhouette for us, as it’s not only one of our best-selling ASICS models, but also one of our best-selling styles from any brand over the past two years,” Lapstone founder Brian Nadav stated. “It’s the perfect choice to represent Lapstone’s ten years of success and evolution. When ASICS showed us the potential colorways for our exclusive release, this one immediately jumped out at us. The mix of cream-colored mesh with hits of metallic silver and gold, and black leather overlays is a nearly perfect reflection of the Lapstone shop aesthetic, instantly bringing to mind our marble floors, brass fixtures, and leather couches. We could not be more grateful to the ASICS team, especially Colin Kinzie, Marc Marquez and Lilian Chevalier, for joining our 10 Year celebration and being such an amazing brand and amazing people to work with.”
For our “10 YEAR” apparel capsule, we partnered with Icarus Football, a Philadelphia-based designer and manufacturer of custom soccer uniforms, to create two special edition kits: an all-black short sleeve jersey and shorts kit and a custom camo long sleeve jersey and shorts kit, both featuring our new “10 Year” laurel wreath logo. We tapped the legendary Mitchell & Ness, with whom we partnered on some of our very first collaborations, to produce two matching unstructured ‘dad’ hats in black and camo, as well as a black 5-panel snapback, all marked with the “10 Year” logo embroidery as well.
The LAPSTONE For ASICS GEL-1130 “10 YEAR” campaign features the “One Way Crew,” a group of young Philadelphia bike riders sporting the shoes and kits. The imagery is full of kinetic energy, showcasing the riders’ skill and their embodiment of the ASICS Sportstyle ethos of “Move Your Body, Move Your Mind.”
