THE AIR JORDAN 8 RETRO "BUGS BUNNY" FEATURING WILL YIP

Jordan Brand has released its share of bangers over the last 40 years. From the iconic classics to the slept-on later models, nearly everyone has a pair that holds a special place in their hearts. With the release of the Air Jordan 8 "Bugs Bunny" this weekend, we caught up with Will Yip @willyipmusic, the Philadelphia-based super producer (and noted sneaker lover) who was just nominated for four Grammy awards for his work on Turnstile's Never Enough, to hear why the "Bugs" are his grail pair.

For Will, like a lot of us when it comes to favorite pairs, it's all about his childhood. "Jordan 8's are probably one of the most important silhouettes of any sneaker in my life, because the 92-93 season that Jordan played, the second half that's when he started wearing the 8," he explained as he gave us a tour of his new Memory Music Studios.

Growing up, he begged his parents for a pair but they could never afford them. "As a kid I saw Jordan wearing the 'Bugs Bunny,' and the 'Aqua"' and I thought those looked so cool."

A longtime Lapstone supporter, Will said when he works with big bands from out of town who need to gear up, there's only one place to go, "There's literally one place, it's Lapstone. And I, with this studio, want to be that for music, for rock bands."

After more than a decade creating landmark records at Studio 4, he launched Memory Music Studios, his new creative home in Philadelphia—a world class, fully equipped, 7,500-square-foot, multi-room recording facility built on the same ethos as his Memory Music label- designed to foster community, collaboration, and innovation while pushing sonic boundaries for the next generation of artists.

"Memory Music Studios is on a different level. We are on that Jordan level for Philly, you know we want to be the greatest. We want to be the best"
With four Grammy nods this year alone, they are well on their way.
The Air Jordan 8 Retro "Bugs Bunny" will be available this Saturday, 12/20, @ 10:00am, FCFS in-store and online at lapstoneandhammer.com.
