LAPSTONE FUNDAMENTALS FEATURING SNACKTIME

When our homies from SNACKTIME, Philadelphia's go-to good time party band, needed some gear to rock for the 3-day live recording sessions for their upcoming album, they knew who to call. They wanted something that would be comfortable to play in for hours on end, but also styled-out enough to look good in front of the select group of fans who were invited to attend the sessions. It just so happened that we had the perfect kit to lace them in, the latest edition of our Lapstone Fundamentals program that drops this Friday, 3/25. As with so many things involving the band, it seemed like the stars were aligned.

SNACKTIME was born out of crisis, when the pandemic shut down all the music venues, clubs and bars in the spring of 2020. Looking at an uncertain future with no local music scene, bandleader Sam Gellerstein decided to create his own. With a focus on safety and accessibility for both the performers and audience, he and a collective of local musicians formed SNACKTIME as an outdoor performance vehicle, going back to their roots busking around Rittenhouse Park. With years of experience in the music, food, and beverage worlds between them they evolved the SNACKTIME concept to marry their twin passions of live music and food, creating catered events, curated pop-ups and collaborations with some of Philadelphia's most exciting chefs, providing the ultimate party atmosphere.

Now SNACKTIME is evolving again, recording their first album of all new, original material called, Sounds From The Street: Live. Over three nights at the beginning of March the band (Yesseh Furaha-Ali Alto- Saxophone/MC, Ben Stocker- Tenor Saxophone, Mike Spearman- Trombone, Eric Sherman- Trumpet, Larry Monroe Jr.- Guitar, Austin Marlow- Drums and Sam Gellerstein- Sousaphone/ Band Leader) set up shop in Rittenhouse Soundworks Studios. Performing in front of fans who earned a lucky invite through a crowdsourcing website, SNACKTIME wanted to recreate the vibe of their initial street performances in a studio setting while also showcasing the joyous and resilient spirit of Philadelphia from a musician's perspective.

It was for this series of recording sessions that Lapstone provided the band with our latest Lapstone Fundamentals capsule featuring sweatsuits and New Era fitted caps in three different colorways: purple, navy and ash grey. Sam told us that looking good and feeling comfortable is a huge confidence booster, the old "look good, feel good" mantra. We've got both of those covered with 100% cotton brushed back terry hoodies and sweatpants embroidered with our LH interlock logo and matching New Era fitted caps.

LH Fundamental Hoodie (S-3XL) - $110
LH Fundamental Pant (S-3XL) - $100
Lapstone x New Era Low Profile 5950 Fitted Cap (7-8) - $50

SNACKTIME's Sounds From The Street: Live will be out sometime in late June or early July. Until then you can catch them performing at Sixers' games during halftime, or this summer at Firefly Festival, XPoNential Fest, Peachfest, and Beardfest. If you can't make it out to any of these, get a taste of SNACKTIME from their submission to NPR's Tiny Desk contest

Lapstone Fundamentals featuring SNACKTIME is available on Friday, March 25th at 10:00am both in-store and online.
