LIVE LIFE NICE X LAPSTONE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB FUNDRAISER
Lapstone & Hammer is joining forces with Live Life Nice, the multi-media and apparel brand founded by Philadelphia 76ers in-arena host Christian Crosby, to create a capsule that will see 100% of the proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia. There are few things more important to us than giving back to our community and empowering the next generation, which we have made a core component of our business through The Lapstone Initiative. Live Life Nice was founded on similar principles, dedicating themselves to inspiring, motivating and empowering people to be Nice and do Nice. Teaming up for this collaboration was a no-brainer, especially when it is in the service of a great organization like the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia.
The Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia was a natural choice to partner with for this project, not only because we had worked with them before, but they work directly with the city's underserved youth. They identified their Wissahickon chapter as the most in need of assistance, as their building has fallen into disrepair and needs major improvements. This particular chapter is historic as it was not only one of the 53 founding members of the Boys & Girls Club in 1906, but the first and only(at the time) to service the black community.
With the purpose of this project being to repair and rebuild, we thought the capsule's theme should reflect that as well. We aren't just trying to fix a building, or rebuild a structure, we are trying to build community and provide structure for the young and vulnerable among us. The capsule, consisting of 100% cotton tees and shorts, and a recycled polyester bucket hat, features a schematic of the iconic "holding hands" Boys & Girls Club logo printed on the front of the tee alongside the following text written by set designer and Germantown native, Pete Klein that elaborates on this concept:
Building is process. There are material expressions of building: making a structure and the finished product of that structure: a building. There is a figurative expression of building: a constant discussion of refining an idea to its ideal essence. Both definitions of building are collaborative and depend on a cooperative system to achieve an outcome: community, investors, architects, engineers, surveyors, excavators and builders. The same principles of system apply to building an idea: sharing an idea from mind to mind (to mind) to take into account all points of view so that the idea can serve the largest number of people.
You “build” a team, acquiring different individuals with different talents to be a stronger group than one individual could be. When you give someone positive affirmation you “build” them up. Things that are already in their built state require building as fortification or updating to provide renewed service.
This capsule consists of a 100% cotton Gildan Hammer tee printed with the custom graphic on the front and co-branding on the back, 100% cotton shorts with co-branded logo prints on the left leg and a 100% recycled polyester bucket hat with a Live Life Nice logo print on the front and LH on the back. All three item are available in white, while the tee and shorts also come in a tie dye version that were made using our signature small batch, hand-dying technique. 100% of the proceeds from these items will be used to help rebuild the Wissahickon Boys & Girls Club and its surrounding community.

None of this would be possible without the support of Red Bull (@redbull) and the generosity of Rush Order Tees (www.rushordertees.com), who supplied the printing and apparel. We can not thank these two amazing companies enough for their participation.
Live Life Nice founder Christian Crosby, who was the driving force behind this project, sums up the goals, intentions and his own personal connection as such:
We are proud to be a part of this project and together look to help our most disadvantaged community members. In a community where 44 percent of kids live in poverty and just 48 percent of teens attending the local high-school graduate on-time, the programs and services provided at the Wissahickon Club are essential to ensuring that all kids in the community can achieve a great future. Big thanks to @redbull for empowering us to create this capsule, Rush Order Tees for their incredible contributions and the Boys & Girls Club for allowing us to support.
The Live Life Nice x Lapstone Boys & Girls Club Capsule will be available on Friday, June 18th @ 10:00am both in-store and online.
